【摘要】:Theroundrobintestingonwhichtheprecisionandbiasforthistestmethodhavebeendeterminedemployedarangeofgraphites(seeTable2)whosegrainsizeswereoftheorderof1miltox00BC;in.(0.0254to6.4mm)andlarger.Thiswiderangeofcarbonsandgraphitescanbetestedwithuniformgaugediameterswithminimumparasiticstressestoprovidequalitydataforuseinengineeringapplicationsratherthansimplyforqualitycontrol.Thistestmethodcanbeeasilyadaptedtoelevatedtemperaturetestingofcarbonsandgraphiteswithoutchangingthespecimensizeorconfigurationbysimplyutilizingelevatedtemperaturematerialsfortheloadtrain.Thistestmethodhasbeenutilizedfortemperaturesashighas4352x00B0;F(2400x00B0;C).Thedesignofthefixtures(Figs.2-9andTable1)anddescriptionoftheproceduresareintendedtobringabout,ontheaverage,parasiticstressesoflessthan5%.Thespecimensforthedifferentgraphiteshavebeendesignedtoensurefracturewithinthegaugesectioncommensuratewithexperiencedvariabilityinmachiningandtestingcareatdifferentfacilities.Theconstantgaugediameterpermitsrigorousanalyticaltreatment.5.2Carbonandgraphitematerialsexhibitsignificantphysicalpropertydifferenceswithinparentmaterials.Exactsamplingpatternsandgrainorientationsmustbespecifiedinordertomakemeaningfultensilestrengthcomparisons.SeealsoTestMethodsC565.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthetestingofcarbonandgraphiteintensiontoobtainthetensilestress-strainbehavior,tofailure,fromwhichtheultimatestrength,thestraintofailure,andtheelasticmodulimaybecalculatedasmayberequiredforengineeringapplications.Table2listssuggestedsizesofspecimensthatcanbeusedinthetests.Note18212;Theresultsofabout400tests,onfileatASTMasaresearchreport,showtherangesofmaterialsthathavebeentested,therangesofspecimenconfigurations,andtheagreementbetweenthetesters.SeeSection11.Note28212;Forsafetyconsiderations,itisrecommendedthatthechainsbesurroundedbysuitablememberssothatatfailureallpartsoftheloadtrainbehavepredictablyanddonotconstituteahazardfortheoperator.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.Conversionsarenotprovidedinthetablesandfigures.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
